Royal Wedding Raffle Drawn

May 24th, 2011 by sally

On Saturday 21st May Grandma Doris came to the shop to draw the raffle for her hand-knitted Royal Wedding Party.  Ticket holders gathered eagerly to find out if they would be the lucky winner, but sadly there could only be one!  The winning ticket was No. 15 purchased by Julia Payne.  Unfortunately, Julia could not be with us, but luckily her mother Janet Hollingbery was, so she collected the Royal Family and is pictured here with Grandma Doris collecting the prize.  In total we raised £69 for Oakey Dokey’s Pre-school in Great Oakley and they are planning to spend the money on some outdoor play equipment.  Thank you to all those who bought tickets!

Wine & Canapés with Ruth Dugdall

May 24th, 2011 by sally

Last Thursday we had a wonderful evening with local author Ruth Dugdall who was quite delightful!  Her psychological thriller The Woman Before Me is set in and around Ipswich and is a real page-turner.  Ruth, who lives in Felixstowe, worked as a probation officer before embarking on her writing career and this inside knowledge is very evident in the book.  Bryan & Jo Beattie did us proud as usual with some delicious canapés and a good time was had by all.

We do of course have copies of Ruth’s book in the shop and would thoroughly recommend it!
