Douglas Carswell MP Book Signing – Saturday 27th October
October 22nd, 2012 by sally
It is not every day that a politician admits that politics is the problem. But Douglas Carswell’s new book, The End of Politics and the Birth of iDemocracy, argues that too much government has landed us in a mess.
Government has outgrown its capacity- and has outgrown the means of the rest of us to keep paying for it. Too much officialdom has left us badly governed and mired in debt.
Should we despair? Actually, no – says our local MP.
The digital revolution is about to make the world a much better place. We are going to have to manage with less government and fewer politicians. Public services will be controlled by the public, not remote officials.
Here are some things that others have been saying about Douglas’ book:
Boris Johnson: “Carswell puts his finger on the key dilemmas of the age … fascinating …. refreshing”
Charles Moore in the Telegraph. Read his review here: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/9624860/Douglas-Carswell-How-technology-will-create-true-democracy.html
Dominic Lawson in the Sunday Times: “If the House of Commons is a club, then Douglas Carswell is its most unruly – and subversive – member …. Immensely radical …. a revolutionary text”
Local MP, Douglas Carswell, will be signing copies of his book this Saturday at Caxton Books, Frinton between 10:30 and 11:30.
