It’s Christmas Eve and our last day in the shop, so we’ve taken this opportunity to wish all our lovely customers a very Merry Christmas!
It has been another really super year for us here in the shop and after many years of devoted friends and family filling in for us in holidays and emergencies, we have finally grown up and officially taken on an extra pair of hands – Beverley Jenkins – who puts us to shame with her enthusiasm and tidiness!! A huge thank you to all those who have helped us in the past, but don’t hang up your bookselling boots yet – there may well be a need for those happy helpers in the future!
2013 saw the launch of our new Daytime Book Club: two delightful groups of enthusiastic book lovers coming together over coffee and homemade cakes to discover new books and whether the book is good or bad, we always enjoy a lively discussion!
Crafty Caxton’s was also born in the autumn – the brain child of book clubber Penny Mason and our new group of keen knitters and crafters are quickly becoming firm friends.
September saw the launch of the wonderful national campaign Books Are My Bag celebrating bookselling. We were overwhelmed with people coming to share the day with us to enjoy one of Beverley’s incredible cupcakes and take away a Books Are My Bag bag for life. We still have bags available free with any purchase over £15.
We have just had our final delivery of books before Christmas. All orders safely arrived – phew! A big thank you to Mark, our dependable TNT delivery man and Gardners Books our amazing supplier, without whom we would be unable to offer the next day delivery service we do!
At the end of what is traditionally our busiest day of the year, we will be heading home to start the festivities with our families. We shall be open again on the 28th December bursting with new ideas for exciting events, new artists’ work and more brilliant books and films for the coming year.
A very Happy Christmas to one and all and we look forward to seeing you very soon!
