World Book Night – Saturday 5th March 2011

This is the first ever World Book Night where ONE MILLION BOOKS will be given away by an army of passionate readers to members of the public across the UK and Ireland.  We have been selected as one of the ‘givers’, which means we will be receiving 48 copies of our chosen book to give away on World Book Night.

This is the book we have chosen – Love in the Time of Cholera  by Gabriel Garcia Marquez – an amazing tale of undying love.

We will be screening the film of the book on Saturday 2nd April 2011 in the McGrigor Hall at 7.30pm.  Tickets will be £7 and available from Caxton Books & Gallery.  There will be an opportunity to discuss the film adaptation over a glass of wine after the screening.

BUT – Back to World Book Night!…..from 5.30pm in the shop on Saturday 5th March we will be giving away a free copy of the book to the first 48 people to book to see the film.

BOOK THE FILM – GET THE BOOK – READ AND SHARE!

Make sure you’re one of the first 48 through the door to secure your free book and share a glass of wine to celebrate the very first World Book Night!

AUTUMN EVENTS UPDATE

NATASHA SOLOMONS – Thursday 4th November 2010

Natasha Solomons, author of ‘Mr Rosenblum’s List’, joined us last night for supper at Frinton Golf Club.  She talked about her enormously successful debut novel and also gave us an outline of her new novel due out next April.  She was absolutely delightful and we would like to thank her on behalf of all our guests who thoroughly enjoyed the event.

BARBARA ERSKINE – Thursday 14th October 2010

Our first Wine and Canapés evening proved a huge success with Barbara reading extracts from her latest book ‘Time’s Legacy’ and mingling with the guests.  Many thanks to Barbara and also of course Jo and Bryan Beattie for hosting the event at The Cookery Workshop and providing such delicious canapés.
