Book Review of ‘Bad Mermaids’ by Beatrice Easterbrook – Age 10

What it’s about:  Bad Mermaids is all about three mermaids named Beattie, Mimi and Zelda. They go on holiday to experience land for themselves and to see what legs look like. They are enjoying it until they receive a letter saying that the Queen of Mermaids has been fish napped and there are bad mermaids on the loose! They return home to their new leader Ommy Pike, the most horrible person and the supposed new Queen. With piranhas following their every step, will they ever get the old mermaid town back?

Why I like it:  It has got amazing illustrations and the storyline is very inventive and exciting. It’s got a great sense of humour, so it is full of cool, creative and crazy characters (which are very magical). And it has the element of surprise, giving you that feeling of suspiciousness that every book should have. The only trouble is that I can never put the book down!

I would recommend this book to Age 8 and over. This is for people who enjoy lots of twists and turns, and especially like girl power!  This is one of the best books that I have ever read and I can’t wait for more. A big thank you to Sibeal Pounder for making this book ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!
